Liberty High and City High are preparing for the postseason that gets underway for volleyball teams across the state this week.

Before regional play gets rolling both teams had players earn impressive postseason accoldaes.

Both City High and Liberty High had multiple players named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Academic all-state team that was released this week.

Academic all-state selections are seniors that have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and a minimum ACT score of 27.

Liberty High seniors Shelby Kimm, Lilah VanScoyoc and Abby Stapleton and City High’s Lauren Koch and Emily Arling were all members of the prestigious IGCA academic all-state team for 2022.

Stapleton, Kimm and VanScoyoc have helped Liberty High to a 28-8 record and a number one ranking in Class 5A entering the postseason.

A two-time all-state selection Kimm ranks second on the team with 288 kills and leads the Lightning with 356 digs and 35 ace serves.

VanScoyoc has had her best season as a prep this fall ranking third on the team with 166 kills to go with 30 blocks, 96 digs and 21 ace serves.

Arling and Koch had helped City High to a 17-15 regular season record.

Koch has 70 kills, ranks second on the team with 45 blocks and has added seven ace serves.

Arling ranks fourth on the team with 81 kills and third with 25 blocks to go with 72 digs and 10 ace serves.
