Girls Cross Country Roundup: Solon Runner-up, Clear Creek Amana Third at WAMAC Conference Meet

Solon and Clear Creek Amana will each attempt to secure spots at the state cross country meet at next Thursday at a Class 3A state qualifying meet.
On Thursday both teams appeared poised for postseason success.
Class 3A third-ranked Solon finished runner-up and No. 13 Clear Creek Amana was third at the WAMAC Conference Meet in Independence.
Led by an individual title from senior Lourdes Mason No. 12 Mount Vernon-Lisbon claimed the team title with 50 points.
Solon was runner-up 18 points behind the Mustangs while Clear Creek Amana was third with 79.
Kayla Young led three Solon runners in the top 16 with a runner-up performance finishing behind only Mason in a time of 19:23.1.
Sydney Dee was seventh for Solon in 20:20.7 while Mary Fiala was 16th with 20:50.8.
Ashlyn Williams was 19th in 20:53.7 and Gracie Federspiel was 24th in a time of 21:28.4 for the Spartans.
Haidyn Barker led Clear Creek Amana finishing third in a time of 19:45.5.
Kira Barker was 12th for the Clippers in 20:43.2 and Sara Kinzenbaw finished 14th overall in a time of 20:48.2.
Kiera Rogers placed 18th in 20:52 and Harper Tecklenburg was 32nd in 22:07.4 for the Clippers.
