Girls Cross Country Roundup: Wedemeyers Lead City High to Runner-up Finish at MVC Divisional Meet

Ani and Iris Wedemeyer each posted top-15 finishes to help Class 4A No. 16 City High to a runner-up finish at the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Divisional meet on Thursday at Irv Warren Golf Course in Waterloo.
Ani Wedmeyer placed fifth and Iris Wedmeyer was 11th as City High finished runner-up to top-ranked Dubuque Hempstead with 64 points.
Dubuque Hempstead had the top four finishers on its way to winning the team title with 17 points.
No. 13 Linn-Mar finished third with 79 followed by No. 19 West High with 101 points and Cedar Rapids Kennedy with 152.
Ani Wedemeyer was fifth in 19:02 and Iris Wedemeyer was 11th in 19:49.9 for the Little Hawks.
Nina Peterson was 13th in a time of 19:57.2 and Erin Anderson finished 17th in 20:05.9 while Nicole Peterson was 18th for City High in 20:08.7.
West High was led by Gabby Moniza who finished 14th to lead four Trojans that finished in the top 20.
Erinn Varga was 16th in 20:04.7, Kate Van Waning was 19th in 20:12.2 and Cindy Wang placed 20th in 20:15.9.
