Boys Cross Country Roundup: Regina’s O’Neil and West High Post Top-15 Finishes at Luther College Meet

West High had three runners in the top 60 and finished 13th at the 22-team Luther College Meet on Saturday in Decorah.
Seth Cheney, Moustafa Tiea and Michael Lee all finished in the top 60 as West High finished with 334 points.
Liberty High was 16th with 423 points, Regina was 17th with 458 and Solon was 18th with 461.
Class 4A second-ranked Norwalk won the team title with 95 points while fourth-ranked Johnston was runner-up with 136 and third-ranked Cedar Falls was third with 158 points.
Regina junior Aiden O’Neil was the top area individual placing 15th in a time of 16:03.94.
O’Neil joined teammate Joe Maley in the top 80 as Maley placed 78th with 17:08.03.
Cheney led West High placing 52nd in a time of 16:44.69 while Tiea was 54th in 16:46.94 and Lee placed 58th in 16:52.6.
Aidan Decker joined O’Neil as top-20 finishers placing 18th in a time of 16:06.87 and teammate Noah Gregoire was 33rd in 16:31.51 for the Lightning.
Solon was led by Brick Kabela who placed 42nd in a time of 16:35.96 and Michael Yeomans who was 68th in 16:59.9.
Manny Putz of Onalaska (Wisconsin) won the individual title in 14:50.65 and Jaxson Plumb of Johnston was runner-up in 15:15.71.
