City High went 4-2 on its way to a third-place finish at the Dubuque Invitational on Saturday at Dubuque Hempstead High School.

The Little Hawks went 1-1 in pool play defeating East Dubuque (21-12, 21-14) and falling to Dubuque Senior (20-22, 21-18, 15-6).

City High then went 3-1 in bracket play with wins over Independence (21-18, 20-22, 15-12), Dubuque Hempstead (21-9, 19-21, 15-12) and Bettendorf (21-17, 21-17) and a loss to Class 4A second-ranked North Scott (21-13, 21-17).

With the 4-2 mark on Saturday the Little Hawks improved to 10-12 on the season.

Emmy McComas led City High with 34 kills and 28 digs in the six matches while Ruby McDonough had 30 kills.

Emily Arling had 18 kills and 24 digs and Lauren Koch had 16 kills and five ace serves.

Sidney Slay had 94 assists, 12 kills, 19 digs and six ace serves and Haleigh Nelson had 24 digs.
