Adam Bock
Solon graduate and current South Dakota State junior Adam Bock was named co-Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the week on Sunday after posting a game-high 13 tackles in a 7-3 loss at Iowa.
The junior linebacker had six solo stops among his 13 tackles and also forced a recovered a fumble on Saturday.
Hailey Hested
Liberty High graduate and current Mount Mercy sophomore setter Hailey Hested surpassed the 1,000-assist mark for her career on Friday in a five-set victory over Culver-Stockton.
Hested was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Setter of the Week last week and has helped the Mustangs to an 8-1 start to the season.
Last year’s Heart of America Conference co-freshman of the year, Hested finished with 48 assists, 14 digs and two ace serves in the win over Culver-Stockton becoming just the 14th play in Mount Mercy history with 1,000 career kills.
Rylee Fay
Former Liberty High standout Rylee Fay had a team-high 25 assists and seven ace blocks to lead New Mexico state to a four set win over North Carolina A&T on Friday.
A sophomore setter for the Aggies, Fay leads the team with 115 assists and 16 ace serves and ranks second on the team with 45 digs while helping New Mexico State to a 5-1 start to the season.
The seven ace serves for Fay against North Carolina A&T were the most for any Division I player in a four-set match this season and marked just the fifth time in New Mexico State history a player had seven aces in a match.
Tom Adolph
West High graduate Tom Adolph had seven tackles and a sack on Saturday to help Central College defeat St. Olaf 44-13 in its season opener in Pella.
A 5-11, 265-pound senior defensive lineman, Adolph also blocked an extra point in the win.
