Solon got scores from all three in 42-0 season-opening win over West Liberty on Friday at Memorial Stadium in West Liberty.

Nash Kotar returned a punt for a touchdown, Rhyse Wear scored on a 30-yard fumble return and senior quarterback Blake Timmons ran for a pair of touchdowns as Solon won its opener for the second consecutive season.

Solon led 28-0 at the half and rolled up 357 yards of total offense in the win.

Timmons passed for 104 yards and rushed for 34 yards and two scores while junior Brett White rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown as the Spartans racked up 234 yards on the ground.

Kotar started the scoring for Solon when he returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown.

Kotar also caught four passes and had a pair of tackles for Solon.

Timmons scored on first-half runs of 9 and 3 yards and White had a 17-yard touchdown run as Solon built a 28-0 halftime lead.

Sean Stahle scored on a 12-yard run in the third quarter and Wear capped the scoring in the fourth when he returned a fumble 30 yards for a score.

Ryan Rasmussen caught a pair of passes for 46 yards to lead Solon.

White led a Spartan defensive effort that limited West Liberty to 110 total yards and negative six yards rushing.

The junior linebacker had five tackles including 1.5 for loss and picked off a pass.

Zeb Kleinsmith and Ben Kampman each had a sack for Solon and Stahle had an interception.

Aidan Doyle and David Karam each had 1.5 tackles for loss for the Spartans.
