Regional Softball Roundup: Nibaur Tosses Gem as Regina Advances To Regional Final

Regina is one win away from a second consecutive trip to the state softball tournament.
Emma Nibaur spun a three-hit shutout to lift Class 2A fourth-ranked Regina to a 2-0 win over Alburnett on Friday in a Region 6 semifinal in Iowa City.
Nibaur struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter as Regina improved to 20-11 on the season and advanced to the Region 6 title game where it will face No. 12 East Marshall on Monday at 7 p.m. at Regina.
East Marshall (25-7) advanced to the title game with a 2-1 semifinal win over Dike-New Hartford on Friday.
Regina scored single runs in the first and fifth innings and that was enough for Nibaur who retired the first 13 batters she faced on Friday.
Dani Laughlin had a hit and scored a run and Courtney Kessler doubled and drove in a run for the Regals.
Nibaur also had a triple for Regina while Morgan Gahan had a hit and scored a run for Regina.
