Softball Roundup: No. 12 Liberty High Splits Doubleheader With 4A No. 10 Western Dubuque

Liberty High and Western Dubuque split a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader at Farley Community Park in Farley on Tuesday with Liberty High winning the opener 7-2 and Western Dubuque taking the nightcap 8-4.
Class 5A No. 12 Liberty High moved to 24-9 on the season and 17-6 in MVC play while Class 4A No. 10 Western Dubuque now sits at 19-14 and 13-11 in conference play.
Liberty High snapped a 2-2 tie in the opener with a run in the fourth and added four runs in the seventh inning on its way to a 7-2 win.
Haileigh Smith and Mischa Reiners each homered for the Lightning as Liberty finished with nine hits.
Smith drove in three and scored a run and Reiners was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Haley Schroeder had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run and Kennedy Daugherty and Brynlee Slockett had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
Kinsley Robertson earned the win for Liberty High allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out seven and walking three.
Robertson also had a pair of hits in the opener.
Western Dubuque earned a split scoring three runs in the fourth and sixth innings in the night cap.
Reiners was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Robertson was 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead Liberty High in game two.
Schroeder had a hit and scored a run and Smith had a double, drove in a run and scored twice.
