Softball Roundup: Top-ranked Mount Vernon Sweeps Solon in WAMAC Doubleheader

Class 3A top-ranked Mount Vernon swept Solon in a WAMAC Conference East Division doubleheader on Wednesday in Solon winning the opener 13-1 and taking the nightcap 4-3.
Mount Vernon improved to 26-2 on the season and 18-0 in WAMAC play with the sweep while Solon dropped to 14-12 and 10-8.
The Mustangs out-hit Solon 17-4 on its way to the win in the opener.
Ava Stebral went 2-for-3 to lead Solon while Meg O’Neil had a hit and scored a run and Addie Miller had a hit and drove in a run.
Kendall Jensen took the loss for Solon in game one.
Solon took an early 2-0 lead in game two on a Hilary Wilson two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning and tied the game at 3-all in the fifth when Mia Stahle tripled and scored on an error.
Stahle went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Wilson drove in two runs and scored a run.
Carly Ellison was 2-for-3 and Stebral scored a run for the Spartans.
Izzy Frees took the loss for Solon allowing four runs on 11 hits while striking out three and walking three.
