Class 4A sixth-ranked City High swept Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional doubleheader on Friday in Dubuque winning the opener 11-8 and taking the nightcap 6-3.

City High improved to 20-6 on the season and 15-5 in MVC play with the sweep while Dubuque Senior dropped to 5-18 on the year and 5-15 in conference play.

In the opener City High scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to overcome an early two-run deficit.

Gable Mitchell worked three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win allowing just two walks while striking out three.

Mitchell also went 3-for-3 and scored three runs to lead the City High attacked while Alex Knudtson was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Cade Obermueller went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs.

Carter Seaton and Joey Bouska each scored two runs in the opener and Drew Larson had a hit and drove in two runs.

City High scored the final three runs of the nightcap to complete the sweep.

Talon Young started and allowed three runs on three hits while striking out five in three innings before Drew Carlson and Knudtson combined for four innings of no-hit relief.

Carlson earned the win allowing just three walks and fanning seven in 3 2/3 innings and Knudtson record the final out to notch the save.

Obermueller went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run to lead City High while Mitchell had two hits and drove in a run.

Isaiah Svoboda had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run and Carlson had a hit and drove in a run.

Bouska had a hit, scored twice and drove in a run and Knudtson and Carter Seaton each had a hit and scored a run.
