Solon hammered 25 hits and scored 24 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Vinton-Shellsburg on Thursday in a WAMAC Conference cross-divisional matchup in Vinton.

The Spartans won the opener 14-3 and took the nightcap 10-7 to improve to 10-7 on the season and 9-5 in WAMAC games.

Vinton-Shellsburg dropped to 8-15 on the season and 1-13 in conference games.

Solon used a five-run second inning to take control of game one, scoring in each of the last four innings.

Camryn Keith and Carly Ellison each had three hits to lead Solon in game one.

Keith had a double, drove in three runs and scored a run and Ellison went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Mia Stahle had a hit, scored two runs and drove in two runs and Ava Stebral had a double, scored a run and drove in two runs.

Hilary Wilson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Addie Miller doubled and drove in a run and Izzy Frees had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.

Kendal Jensen earned the win for Solon allowing three unearned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking three.

Frees earned the win for Solon in the nightcap allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings.

Solon had 13 hits in game two with Meghan O’Neil and Wilson each leading the way with three hits.

Wilson was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored and O’Neil was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Keith was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI and Frees had a hit and drove in two runs.

Stahle had a hit and scored two runs. Stebral had a hit and scored a run and Addison Schlote had a hit and scored a run.
