Baseball Roundup: Senior Klosterman Sparks City High in Win Over Cedar Rapids Washington

City High didn’t let a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Liberty High linger too long.
Senior John Klosterman made sure of that.
Klosterman fired a complete game two-hitter and also smacked a double and triple as Class 4A third-ranked City High got back on track with a 6-2 win over Cedar Rapids Washington on Wednesday at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
The Little Hawks improved to 14-5 on the season and 8-4 in Mississippi Valley Conference play with the win that was the second game of a doubleheader that was postponed by weather on May 25.
Cedar Rapids Washington dropped to 7-7 on the season and 5-5 in MVC play with the loss.
City High won the first game with the Warriors 3-2 last month and completed the sweep on Wednesday behind the big game from Klosterman.
The senior right-hander struck out seven and allowed just two runs, one earned, on two hits while walking one.
Klosterman also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a scored two runs in the win.
Drew Larson and Joey Bouska each had hits and scored runs for City High and Gable Mitchell had an RBI and scored a run.
Ty Hall and Carter Seaton each had hits for the Little Hawks and Cade Obermueller scored a run and Alex Knudtson had an RBI.
