Class 4A third-ranked City High split a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader with eighth-ranked Cedar Falls on Friday dropping the opener 5-4 and taking the nightcap 7-0
City High moved to 13-3 on the season and 8-2 in MVC play while Cedar Falls is now 10-2 on the season and 8-2 in conference action.
Cedar Falls snapped a 4-all tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning in the opener.
Talon Young took the loss for City High allowing one run on three hits in two innings of relief.
Starter Alex Knudtson allowed four runs on three hits while striking out five and walking five in four innings.
Cade Obermueller and Drew Carlson each had a hit and drove in a run in game one and Obermueller scored two runs.
Carter Seaton had a hit and scored a run, Gable Mitchell scored a run and Joey Bouska had a hit for the Little Hawks in the opener.
John Klosterman tossed a one-hit shutout in the nightcap as City High salvaged a split with a 7-0 win.
Klosterman walked one and fanned eight allowing just one hit, a two-out single in the seventh inning.
Carter Seaton had a two-run home run in the third to help break the game open and finished with a pair of RBI and two runs scored.
Bouska went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Knudtson was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Jacob Williamson had two hits and drove in two runs and Obermueller had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
