Baseball Roundup: City High Extends Win Streak to Five With Sweep of Waterloo East

Class 4A third-ranked City High extended its winning streak to five with a doubleheader sweep of Waterloo East on Friday at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
City High scored a combined 27 runs in the two wins on Friday while improving to 9-2 on the season and 5-1 in Mississippi Valley Conference play.
Waterloo East dropped to 1-7 and 0-6 in MVC games.
City High scored 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-0 four-inning win in the opener and took the nightcap 12-0 in five innings.
Max Waldschmidt earned the win in game one allowing just one hit and two walk while striking out seven in a four-inning complete game.
Gavin Koch went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored and Cade Obermueller was 2-for-2 with three RBI to lead City High.
Ten different Little Hawks had a hit in the opener and nine different players drove in a run.
Talon Young and Carter Seaton each had a hit and drove in two runs and Joey Bouska, Gable Mitchell, Seaton and Koch all scored twice.
Young earned the win in the nightcap tossing three no-hit innings while striking out two.
Cooper Drake allowed three hits and struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief.
Obermueller went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in two runs to pace City High in game two while Koch double and drove in two runs.
Seaton had a triple, drove in a run and scored a run and Drake had a hit and drove in two runs.
Mitchell scored three runs for City High while Jacob Williamson and Bouska each had a hit and drove in a run.
