Solon came up just shy of a return to the state soccer tournament on Wednesday falling to defending 2A runner-up Bondurant-Farrar 2-1 in the 2A, Substate 5 title game in Bondurant.

Bondurant-Farrar (17-2) returned to the state tournament for the second consecutive season and fourth time in program history while Solon closed the season 16-3.

The Bluejays will face Newton (13-6) in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A state tournament on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
