Liberty High split a doubleheader with Muscatine on Monday winning the opener 12-1 and dropping the night cap 9-5 at Tom Bruner Field in Muscatine.
The Lightning moved to 3-4 on the season with the split while Muscatine now sits at 2-2.
Boyd Skelley earned the win for Liberty High in the opener allowing just one run on six hits while striking out five in five innings.
Owen Norris worked a hitless inning of relief in the win.
Ian Gates had a hit, drove in two runs and scored three times to lead Liberty High while Noah Kirk, and Jack Turgasen each had a hit, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Luke Meyers had a hit, scored twice and had an RBI and Hayden Vickroy had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
Muscatine score eight first-inning runs on its way to a 9-5 win in the nightcap.
Gates was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored to lead Liberty High in game two while Evan Chandler was 2-for-3 with a double.
Owen Norris had two hits and drove in a run and Kirk drove in two runs in game two.
