Boys Track and Field Roundup: Regina, West Branch Climb Standings at RVC Meet

Regina and West Branch each more than doubled their point total from a season ago while climbing up the standings at the River Valley Conference track and field meet on Thursday in Monticello.
Last season the Regals finished 12th with 16 points just ahead of West Branch which was 13th with 10.5 points.
Both teams saw those numbers climb significantly on Thursday.
Regina finished 10th with 34 points while West Branch was 11th with 27 points at the 14-team meet.
Tipton won the team title with 105 points followed by Mid-Prairie with 91.5, Cascade with 82.5 and Bellevue with 78.
Senior Carson Jensen led the way for Regina on Thursday posting a pair of top-six finishes and helping Regina to top-eight finishes in two relays.
Jensen was runner-up in the 400 in a time of 51.04 and finished sixth in the 800 in 2:05.75.
He was part of the Regina sprint medley team that finished seventh and a member of the Regals 4×100 squad that finished eighth.
Aidan O’Neil finished fifth in the 3,200 for Regina while Josh Gaffey was fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus and Drew Streb was fourth in the discus.
Reese Trepanier finished third in the discus and fifth in the shot put to lead West Branch.
The Bears were fourth in the distance medley and fifth in the 4×100 relay while Oliver Palmer was fifth in the 800 and Zach Walker seventh in the 200 for the Bears.
