Winners of eight consecutive matches Solon continues to climb in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union soccer rankings.

Solon moved up two spots to ninth in the most recent Class 1A rankings released by the IGHSAU on Thursday afternoon.

The Spartans have won eight in a row to improve to 9-1 on the season and will host 2A No. 13 Mount Vernon (7-1) on Friday.

Regina (5-2) remained No. 10 in the Class 1A rankings.

City High (4-3) dropped two spots to No. 15 in the Class 3A rankings.

Top-ranked teams this week remained the same with West Des Moines Valley (3A), Norwalk (2A) and Davenport Assumption (1A) holding the top spots.
