West Branch Edges Tipton Again to Claim Title at West Liberty Invitational

West Branch and Tipton are long-time conference rivals, separated by slim stretch of highway and have gotten very familiar with one another over past years.
The Bears and Tigers have gotten even more familiar with each other over the past week.
West Branch and Tipton squared off for the third time in just five days at the West Liberty Invitational on Tuesday with the Bears securing a second win over the Tigers in as many days.
West Branch had three golfers finish in the top 10 and finished with a 334 to edge Tipton by a single stroke for the team title at the 12-team West Liberty Invitational at the West Liberty Country Club.
Dylan Countryman shot an 80 to finish third overall and Will Bridges fired an 82 to place sixth helping West Branch to the team title.
Gage Gingerich was the third West Branch golfer in the top 10 finishing 10th with an 85.
West Branch and Tipton split a pair of meetings in Tipton last Friday and Monday.
Tipton finished in front of the Bears at their own invitational on Friday and West Branch returned the favor winning a River Valley Conference dual meet in Tipton on Tuesday.
It was just as tight again on Tuesday.
Tipton had the top two finishers in Bob Ryan and Tristin Sorgenfrey who shot 78 and 80 respectively.
However, it was the depth of West Branch that was the difference.
Logan Highly shot an 87 for West Branch while Brady Knoop shot an 88.
Clear Creek Amana had a pair of top-10 finishers while placing third with a 339.
Host West Liberty was fourth with a 362 followed by Camanche with a 378 and Winfield-Mount Union with a score of 378.
Regina was eighth with a 381.
Jordan DeKoter shot 82 to place seventh for Clear Creek Amana while teammate Zach McCarty was one shot back in eighth with an 83.
Mikey Takacs shot an 80 to place fourth for Regina.
