The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Tyler Dahm
Liberty High graduate and current Mount Mercy sophomore infield Tyler Dahm had five hits helping the Mustangs go 3-1 in a weekend series against Culver-Stockton in Cedar Rapids.
Dahm doubled, tripled, scored four runs and drove in two more in the weekend series that concluded with a doubleheader split on Sunday.
On the season Dahm is hitting .308 with a team-high 40 runs scored, eight doubles, three triples and three home runs while driving in 18.
Nick Gallagher
Former West High and University of Iowa standout Nick Gallagher opens the baseball season as a member of the Akron RubberDucks the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians.
Last season the right-hander posted a 1-3 record and 4.61 ERA in 54 2/3 innings at Class A Lake County.
Gallagher has earned in five gamest his season striking out six in 6 2/3 innings.
Bailey Lukavsky
West Branch graduate Bailey Lukavsky has been named the head volleyball coach at Muscatine.
As a prep Lukavsky helped West Branch to back-to-back state tournament appearance in her final two seasons including a spot in the Class 2A semifinals as a senior in 2015.
West Branch went 70-12 over those two season.
Lukavsky spent last season as the head coach at East Union leading the Eagles to an 8-17 record.
