West High’s Moe, Clear Creek Amana’s Swails Named to IPSWA All-State Team

For the second consecutive season West High forward Pete Moe has earned all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
A third-team Class 4A all-state pick a year ago, Moe earned second-team honors on Tuesday when the IPSWA released its postseason awards.
Moe joins Clear Creek Amana senior guard Ben Swails as Your Prep Sports area athletes to earn all-state honors on Tuesday.
Ames senior Tamin Lipsey was named Mr. Basketball after averaging 15.7 points per game while leading the Little Cyclones to the Class 4A state title.
Moe ranked seventh in Class 4A in scoring and fourth in rebounding while leading West High to a 13-9 record.
The 6-foot-9 Moe shot 61 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line while averaging 21.2 points per game.
Moe added 9.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1 blocked shot per game.
Swails earned all-state honors for the first time in his career landing on the Class 3A second team after helping the Clippers to a 16-8 mark.
The senior guard averaged a team-high 17.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game to go with 1.6 steals and 1.5 assists per contest.
Swails shot 52 percent from the floor including 42 percent from three-point range and 68 percent from the free throw line.
