Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Wins Postseason Opener Over Davenport Central

Liberty High got back on track with its season on the line on Monday downing Davenport Central 57-51 in a Class 4A, Substate 4 quarterfinal in North Liberty.
The win snapped a four-game losing skid to end the regular season for Liberty High (10-12) and sends the Lightning in the substate semifinal where they will travel to Cedar Rapids Washington (12-9) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Davenport Central closed the season 4-18.
Liberty High jumped to a 14-6 first-quarter lead and led by 10 points at halftime.
Da’Shon Fisher had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead Liberty High while Luke Ramsey added 11 points for the Lightning.
Griffin Kraft had five points eight rebounds and three assists and Christian Barney had five points and five rebounds.
Trey Hughes had eight points and Gage Kampman had nine rebounds and blocked five shots.
