Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Cooper Kabela
West Branch graduate and current Cornell College senior Cooper Kabela set a new school record for career field goals in an 8577 loss to Lawrence on Saturday.
Kabela made the 538th field goal of his career on Saturday to break the previous record of 537 set in 1979.
With 12 points on Saturday Kabela also moved into second place on the Cornell all-time scoring list with 1,499 career points and is 63 points away from becoming the all-time scoring leader for the Rams.
On the season Kabela is averaging 15.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor, 40 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Tatum Koenig
West Branch graduate and current Bradley senior Tatum Koenig scored a career-high for the second game in a row on Thursday pouring in 27 points in an 86-84 loss at Valparaiso.
Koenig matched her career-high with 23 points in a win over Evansville in her previous game before scoring 27 on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor in the loss to Valparaiso.
The senior guard also had five assists and four rebounds.
Mary Crompton
Regina graduate and current Illinois State junior guard Mary Crompton had 19 points in win over Valparaiso on Saturday as the Redbirds extended their winning streak to five in a row.
Crompton has started all 24 games this season for Illinois State helping the Redbirds to a 15-9 record including an 11-2 Missouri Valley Conference mark.
On the season Crompton ranks third on the team averaging 10.9 points per game and is shooting 40 percent from three-point range and leads the team with 61 made three-pointers.
