Girls Basketball Roundup: City High Closes Regular Season With Win at No. 11 Waukee Northwest

A senior night setback to No. 15 Linn-Mar on Friday evening was one of the low points of a mostly stellar regular season for City High.
On Saturday the Little Hawks closed the regular season on a high note.
Less than 24 hours after a disappointing 49-40 loss to the Lions City High got back on track with a 65-50 win over Class 5A No. 11 Waukee Northwest in a non-conference matchup in Waukee.
The win snapped a two-game losing skid for seventh-ranked City High and pushed the Little Hawks to 17-4 on the season.
Waukee Northwest dropped to 13-8 with the loss.
After being outscored 26-15 by Linn-Mar in the second half on Friday City High built a 30-23 halftime lead on Saturday.
Senior Andie Westlake had 12 of her 21 points in the opening half as City High took a seven-point lead into the locker room.
Kelsey Joens had 15 of her game-high 24 points in the second half as City High pulled away.
Eviyon Richardson added nine points and Georgia Kimm had eight for City High while Emmy McComas chipped in with three.
Sadie Maas had 21 points to lead Waukee Northwest and Regan Barthlowmew had 10 for the Wolves.
