Wrestling Roundup: CCA, Solon Crown Champions at WAMAC Conference Meet

Clear Creek Amana and Solon bookended the finals of the WAMAC Conference wrestling meet by crowning individual champions.
Freshman Cale Nash won an individual title at 106 pounds and Solon senior Gage Marty won a WAMAC crown at 285 as each team finished with one champion on Saturday in Solon.
West Delaware had five individual champions and won the team title with 278 points while Independence was runner-up with 236.5.
Mount Vernon was third with 177 followed by Williamsburg with 147 and Dyersville Beckman with 138.
Solon was ninth with 88.5 points while Clear Creek Amana finished 11th with 78.5 points.
Nash (34-7) reached the finals with a first-period pin and an 8-4 decision over Tanner Wilson of Independence in the semifinals.
The freshman earned a 6-3 decision over Mount Vernon sophomore Klayten Perreault in the 106-pound championship.
Beck Arant added a third-place finish for Clear Creek Amana at 132 pounds while Benjamin Haughey was fifth at 145 and Nolan Howell and Ethan Williams each finished sixth for the Clippers.
Marty continued his stellar season with a dominant run through the 285-pound bracket.
Third-ranked Marty (42-2) opened with a first-period pin in the quarterfinals before posting a 14-2 major decision over Cameron Geuther of West Delaware in the semifinals.
Marty claimed the 285-pound title with a 15-0 tech fall of Mount Vernon junior Trystin Lashley in the championship match.
Lucas Kampman added a third-place finish for Solon at 170 pounds while Tyler Hancox was fourth for the Spartans at 220.
Jordan Schmidt was sixth for Solon at 126 pounds.
