For the second time this season Liberty High is a ranked team.

Liberty High returned to the Class 5A girls basketball rankings on Thursday when the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its most recent set of rankings.

The Lightning are 7-5 on the season and came in at No. 15 in the rankings joining City High and West High in the Class 5A rankings.

Liberty High appeared in the IGHSAU rankings for the first time in program history early this season landing at No. 14 in the December 9 rankings.

City High (11-0) held its spot at No. 2 in the 5A rankings behind only top-ranked Johnston (14-0) while West High remained at No. 7 in Thursday’s rankings.

Regina (11-3) moved up one spot to eighth in the Class 2A rankings while West Branch (10-3) climbed one spot to No. 14 in Class 2A.

The top-ranked teams all remained the same this week with Glenwood (4A), Unity Christian (3A), Dike-New Hartford (2A) and Newell-Fonda (1A) joining Johnston in holding onto the top spots.
