Class 5A third-ranked Waterloo West held off a late Liberty High rally to earn a 64-58 win over the Lightning on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional contest in North Liberty.

Liberty High dropped to 7-5 with the loss while Waterloo West improved to 11-1 with its eighth straight win.

Jasmine Barney had 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the way for Liberty High.

Avery Gaudet had 12 points and Ava Meyer had seven points and five rebounds for the Lightning.

Kinsley Robertson added six points and six rebounds and Sunny Yarnell had three points and four rebounds.
