Hunter Garvin claimed an individual title to lead West High to a fifth-place team finish at the Midwest Shootout on Saturday at Bettendorf High School

Garvin was dominant on Saturday posting four consecutive pins on his way to the 152-pound title.

The top-ranked 152-pounder in Class 3A, Garvin improved to 32-0 on the season with four pins on Saturday including a second-period pin of sixth-ranked Johnston sophomore Braden Blackorby in the championship match.

Three other West High wrestlers finish in the top three on Saturday.

Kyler Scranton was third at 132 pounds, Grant O’Dell was third at 138 and Drake Davis was third at 182 pounds as the Trojans finished with 137 pounds.

Host Bettendorf won the team title with 258.5 points while Johnston was runner-up with 218, Urbandale was third with 160 and Waukee was fourth with 139 points.

Gordey Gambrall finished fourth at 126 pounds and Braden Doyle was fourth at 113 for the Trojans.
