Regina made its season debut in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association basketball rankings in the final poll of 2021.

The Regals made a big climb in the first rankings of the new year.

Regina jumped six spots to eighth in the most recent Class 2A rankings released by the IGHSAU on Thursday.

The Regals are 8-2 and defeated No. 15 Cascade in its first game of 2022 on Tuesday.

West Branch (7-2) dropped to No. 13 in the Class 2A rankings.

City High (8-0) and West High (7-1) each held their spots in the most recent 5A rankings.

City High stayed second in Class 5A while West High held firm at fifth.

Top-ranked teams this week are Johnston (5A), Glenwood (4A), Unity Christian (3A), Dike-New Hartford (2A) and Newell-Fonda (1A).
