Wrestling Roundup: Solon Senior Marty Reaches 100 Career Victories, Wins Title at Fort Madison Invite

Solon senior Gage Marty recorded the 100th win of his career on Saturday on his way to winning the 285-pound title at the Fort Madison Invitational.
The title from Marty along with a third-place finish from freshman Jordan Schmidt helped Solon to a ninth-place team finish at the two-day 21-team tournament.
Solon finished with 194.5 points while Ottumwa won the team title with 393.5 followed by Cedar Rapids Kennedy with 382 and Burlington Notre Dame with 365.5.
Marty went 6-0 with four pins and a tech fall at the tournament while surpassing the 100-win mark for his career.
The fourth-ranked senior defeated Class 3A No. 12 Julius Harris of Burlington 5-2 in the 285-pound title match to improve to 17-0 on the season.
Schmidt went 5-2 at the tournament on his way to finishing third at 126 pounds and improved to 14-6 on the season.
Lawson Sinnwell was fifth for Solon at 120 pounds while Dade Altman was seventh at 182.
Clear Creek Amana got a runner-up finish from Cale Nash at 106 pound while finished 10th with 191.5 points.
Nash went 5-1 at the tournament to run his season record to 15-5.
Max Carlson was fifth at 138 for the Clippers while Beck Arant placed sixth at 132, Samuel Schneider, Jack Stevens and Benjamin Haughey were all seventh and Kaden Phan was eighth.
