The 2021 Your Prep Sports Area Volleyball Team

For more than half a decade the Your Prep Sports area volleyball team has honored some of the best individual players in the state.
The 2021 edition of the annul YPS all-area team is once again filled with some of the state’s top talent.
This year’s 10-member team features all-state and all-conference players, members of a state tournament team and several Division I recruits.
Liberty High junior Cassidy Hartman is the 2021 team captain after leading the Lightning to the Class 5A state tournament and earning Elite All-state honors for the second consecutive season.
Hartman is making her third consecutive appearance on the Your Prep Sports area team and is the team captain for the second year in a row.
Cassidy Hartman (Captain)
Junior, Liberty High
Hartman continued to cement her status as one of the top players in the state with a dominant junior season in which she hammered a career-high 423 kills while helping Liberty High to a 34-5 record and third consecutive appearance at the Class 5A state tournament.
The 6-foot Hartman ranked fourth in 5A with 4.2 kills per set and her career-high .351 hitting percentage was also fourth best in 5A as the Northern Iowa recruit earned Elite Team all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for the second straight season.
Hartman was named Mississippi Valley Conference divisional athlete of the year for a second year in a row after a collecting a career high 400 kills to go with 48 blocks and 27 ace serves.
The captain of the Your Prep Sports area team for the second consecutive season Hartman is making her third consecutive appearance on the all-area squad.
Calia Clubb
Senior, Clear Creek Amana
Among the most consistent players in Class 4A over the past four seasons Clubb closed a brilliant prep career with a strong senior season in which she led the Clippers in kills for the fourth year in a row.
Clubb was a unanimous WAMAC West Division first team selection for the third consecutive season and earned honorable mention all-state honors after ranking 10th in 4A with 3.5 kills per set.
An Illinois State recruit, Clubb had 340 kills while hitting .219 as a senior and closed her career with 1,191 kills.
A three-time Your Prep Sports area team selection Clubb ranked second on the team with 291 kills and 33 ace serves and added 35 blocks.
Shelby Kimm
Junior, Liberty High
Kimm enjoyed her own standout season alongside Hartman earning first-team all-state honors for the first time in her career after posting a career-high 269 kills.
The 6-foot Kimm ranked second on the team behind Hartman in kills while hitting .281 on her way to being a unanimous MVC Mississippi Division selection.
An all-around player, Kimm had a career-high 364 digs and added 30 blocks while leading the Lightning with 50 ace serves.
Lexi Klinkkammer
Senior, West Branch
The latest in a long line of talented hitters at West Branch Klinkkammer closed a stellar career with her best season as a prep.
Klinkkammer posted career highs in kills, hitting efficiency and digs on her way to being named to the River Valley Conference Elite team and earning Class 2A honorable mention all-state status.
A four-year starter, Klinkammer had at least 190 kills each of the past four seasons and closed her career with 1,007 kills, 718 digs and 174 ace serves.
The 5-foot-8 Klinkkammer ranked 10th in 2A with 3.8 kills per set while hammering a career-best 352 kills on .322 hitting.
A Mount Mercy recruit, Klinkkammer added 247 digs while helping West Branch to a 21-14 record.
Lily Simpson
Senior, Regina
A four-year varsity performer Simpson simply took her game to another level in her final prep season.
Simpson posted career-highs in kills, hitting efficiency and digs and led the Regals in bocks and ranked second on the team in ace serves on her way to earning Elite Team honors in the River Valley Conference and honorable mention all-state status in Class 2A.
The 5-foot-10 Simpson ranked 11th in 2A with 3.8 kills per set and finished with 309 kills on .264 hitting.
Simpson also had 178 digs, 40 blocks and 38 ace serves.
Gabbie Schroeder
Senior, Liberty High
A four-year varsity player Schroeder was one of the foundational pieces in Liberty High’s rapid rise toward the top of Class 5A helping the Lighting to a 92-11 record and three state tournament appearances over the past three seasons.
Schroeder had her best season as a prep this fall leading Class 5A with 5.4 digs per set on her way to being named second-team all-state in Class 5A.
A Drake recruit, Schroeder had a career-high 484 digs this season and was second on the team with 27 ace serves while being named a MVC all-Mississippi Division first-team pick.
Melae’ Lacy
Sophomore, West High
After bursting onto the scene as a freshman in 2020 Lacy was even better this fall leading the Trojans in kills for the second consecutive season.
Lacy had a career-high 254 kills and ranked second on the team with 39 blocks on her way to being named to the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division first team.
The 5-foot-11 Lacy ranked 15th in 5A with 2.8 kills per set while hitting .191 and also had 96 digs and 20 ace serves.
Makayla Ribble
Senior, City High
A four-year varsity starter Ribble had the best season of her prep career as a senior posting career highs in assists, kills, digs and ace serves while leading the Little Hawks to a 20-15 record and a spot in a Class 5A regional final.
The unquestioned court leader for the Little Hawks, Ribble ranked fifth in Class 5A with 8 assists per set while handing out a career-high 739 assists.
A MVC all-Mississippi Division second-team pick, Ribble had 98 kills, 252 digs and a team-high 34 ace serves this season.
Ribble closed her career with 1,959 assists, 800 digs and 112 ace serves.
Bliss Beck
Sophomore, Clear Creek Amana
One of the most dynamic young hitters in Class 4A Beck emerged as big-time talent following up a solid freshman season with an impressive sophomore campaign in which she was named WAMAC West Division player of the year and honorable mention all-state.
The 6-foot-2 Beck hammered a career-high 306 kills with an impressive .332 hitting percentage and led the Clippers with 92 blocks ranking fifth in 4A with 1 block per set.
Beck added 61 digs and 20 ace serves while helping the Clippers to a 27-12 record and a WAMAC West Division title.
Claire Ernst
Sophomore, City High
Ernst was solid as a freshman in a covid-shortened debut season last fall but took her game to another level this season as a sophomore ranking seventh in 5A with 3.6 kills per set.
The 5-foot-11 Ernst led the Little Hawks with 327 kills while hitting a career-high .256 on her way to landing on the MVC Mississippi Division second team.
Ernst added career highs with 214 digs, 16 blocks and 26 ace serves as City High reached the 5A regional final.
