West Branch Senior Klinkkammer Commits to Mount Mercy

Lexi Klinkkammer put the finishing touches on a stellar prep volleyball career with her best season last fall.
The best volleyball may still be ahead for the West Branch senior all-stater.
Klinkkammer announced she would continue her volleyball career at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids with a post on social media on Wednesday.
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Mount Mercy University to continue my academic and volleyball career,” Klinkkammer wrote on Twitter. “I am so grateful for everyone that has helped me reach this point: my parents, family, coaches, teammates and friends. I can’t wait to be a Mustang.”
Klinkkammer closed an impressive career with more than 1,000 kills and 700 digs with a strong senior season in which she posted career-highs in kills, hitting efficiency and digs on her way to earning Class 2A honorable mention all-state honors for the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
The 5-foot-8 Klinkkammer had a career-high 352 kills while hitting .322 and added 247 digs this fall while helping the Bears to a 21-14 record.
Klinkkammer led West Branch in ace serves for the second consecutive season with 41 and added 19 blocks as a senior.
A four-year varsity starter, Klinkkammer had more than 190 kills in each of her four varsity seasons and finished with 1,007 kills, 718 digs and 174 ace serves.
Mount Mercy University is a member of the NAIA and the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
The Mustangs went 13-15 and 9-10 in conference play this fall.
