Solon showed it was one of the top teams in Class 3A this season advancing to the state semifinals.
On Tuesday the Spartans were rewarded with a group of four players being recognized as some of the top individual talent in their class.
Led by senior lineman Gage Marty Solon had four players named to the Class 3A all-state teams when the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association released its all-state teams.
Marty was a first-team all-state selection and was joined on the 3A all-state teams by juniors Sean Stahle and Blake Timmons and sophomore Brett White.
An anchor on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Spartans, Marty earned all-state honors for the second consecutive season and was a first-team pick for the first time.
A second-team selection as an offensive lineman a year ago Marty earned first-team honors as a defensive lineman after ranking sixth on the team in total tackles and second in tackles for loss from his defensive tackle spot.
The 6-foot, 245-pound Marty had 31 tackles including 11 for loss and 3.5 sacks while helping Solon to an 11-1 record and a spot in 3A semifinals.
Stahle and White each earned second-team all-state honors.
White was a second-team pick as a linebacker after leading the Spartans in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks in his first varsity season.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound White had a team-high 94 tackles, with 14.5 going for loss including 4.5 sacks, and also picked off a pass from his inside linebacker position.
White ranked third in Class 3A in total tackles and his 81 solo stops led 3A.
Another first-year starter, Stahle rushed for a team-high 1,138 yards and 17 touchdowns and ranked second in 3A with 2,026 all-purpose yards.
The 5-10, 162-pound Stahle caught 12 passes for 305 yards and three scores and returned a kickoff and two punts for touchdowns.
Stahle had a rushing touchdown in nine of 12 games this season and scored a touchdown in all but two games while averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
Timmons was a third-team all-state pick at quarterback after accounting for 2,441 total yards and 29 touchdowns.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound junior completed 83-of-172 passes for 1,553 yards and 19 touchdowns and also rushed for 888 yards and 10 scores while leading Solon to its 11-1 mark.
