Regina, West Branch Each Have Two Players Named to IPSWA Class 1A All-State Team

Two of the premier small school programs in Eastern Iowa Regina and West Branch were each represented when the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association released its all-state football teams on Tuesday.
Regina and West Branch each had a pair of players named to the Class 1A team on Tuesday following successful seasons that included playoff victories.
Senior linemen Josh Gaffey and Aidan Udell were each third-team selections for Regina while senior lineman Drake Berry was a second team pick for West Branch and junior linebacker Andy Henson was a third-team selection for the Bears.
Gaffey and Udell were each third-team all-state picks for the second consecutive season.
A 6-foot-4, 230-pound lineman, Gaffey was named to the 1A third team as an offensive lineman after helping the Regals average 212 rushing yards, 361 total yards and better than 28 points per game.
Gaffey also had 35.5 tackles, which was third on the team, and six tackles for loss including three sacks.
The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Udell was a third-team pick as a defensive lineman following a season in which he led Regina with 66.5 tackles including 10.5 tackles for loss and three sacks from his defensive line spot while helping Regina to a 9-1 record and spot in the Class 1A second round.
Berry and Henson each earned all-state honors for the first time.
Berry was a second-team all-state pick as an offensive lineman after paving the way for West Branch to rush for 184 yards per game.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound two-way starter also had 24.5 tackles including five tackles for loss and three sacks.
Henson was a third-team selection as a linebacker after making 42.5 tackles and leading the Bears with 11 tackles for loss.
The 6-foot-, 205-pound Henson had two sacks, recovered two fumbles and led West Branch with 1,320 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns to go with 12 receptions for 161 yards.
