Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Rachael Nelson
Solon graduate and current Kirkwood Community College sophomore setter Rachael Nelson helped the Eagles to a regional title on Sunday with a sweep of tenth-ranked Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo.
Nelson had 37 assists for No. 13 Kirkwood as the Eagles improved to 25-12 and advance to the district tournament.
Adam Bock
Solon graduate and current South Dakota State sophomore linebacker Adam Bock had a team-high 13 tackles in a 27-19 win over North Dakota State.
Bock had 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack among his team-high 13 stops on Saturday and also forced a fumble as South Dakota State improved to 7-2 on the season.
On the year Bock leads the Jackrabbits with 74 tackles and has six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks an interception, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick.
Cooper Kabela
Former West Branch standout and current Cornell College senior Cooper Kabela scored a team-high 24 points to help the Rams to an 82-68 win over Eureka College in the season-opener.
A 6-foot-4 forward, Kabela had seven rebounds and three assists in the win.
