Third-ranked Solon Completes Unbeaten Regular Season With Rout of Keokuk

Solon will enter the postseason one of four remaining unbeaten teams in Class 3A and as hot as any team in the state.
Third-ranked Solon matched a season-high with 63 points in a 63-6 win over Keokuk on Friday in its regular season finale at Spartan Stadium in Solon.
Solon jumped to a 28-0 first quarter lead and led 42-0 at halftime while improving to 9-0 on the season.
The Spartans were fifth in the final RPI rankings released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association on Friday night and will learn their opening-round opponent in the Class 3A playoffs on Saturday morning.
Blake Timmons passed for 102 yards and two touchdowns and three different Spartans scoring rushing touchdowns as the Spartans scored 63 points for the second time this season and first since a season-opening win over West Liberty.
Mac McCarty rushed for 65 yards and a score and Sean Stahle had 48 yards and two touchdowns as Solon finished with 179 yards on the ground.
Timmons connected with his older brother Jacob Timmons for a 26-yard scoring strike to start the scoring for Solon.
Stahle added a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs of 3 and 5 yards and Michael Pipolo scored on a 1-yard run to make it 28-0 Solon.
McCarty scored on a 12-yard run and Timmons hit Colin Werner for a 15-yard touchdown pass to make it 42-0 at the half.
Solon scored a pair of defensive touchdowns in the second half as Ryan Rasmussen returned an interception 25 yards for a score and Dade Altman rumbled 13 yards for a score after scooping up a fumble.
Solon limited Keokuk (2-7) to 101 total yards including 30 rushing yards on 20 carries.
Rasmussen picked off two passes while Pipolo also had an interception and Brett White had two sacks for the Spartans.
