City High will enter the postseason on a high note the Little Hawks made sure of that on Thursday night.

Class 5A fifth-ranked City High rolled to a 63-7 win over Davenport Central in its regular season finale on Thursday night at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport.

City High improved to 8-1 on the season with the win, matching its highest regular season win total since going 8-1 in 2016 while Davenport Central closes the season 3-6.

Postseason pairings for Class 5A will be announced by the Iowa High School Athletic Association on Saturday.

City High jumped to a quick 16-0 lead on a pair of touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Drew Larson and a safety.

John Klosterman caught an 8 yard touchdown pass from Larson on the opening drive of the game and Larson hit Gable Mitchell with a 45-yard strike to make it 16-0.

Davenport Central scored its only touchdown of the game on a 4 yard pass from Nate Hummel to Dylan Graves after Charles Jones returned a kickoff 92 yards to the City High three yard line.

City High answered with a 6 yard touchdown run by Darren Richardson that gave the Little Hawks a 23-7 lead after one quarter.
The Little Hawks scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to build a 50-7 halftime lead.

Quinton Tran tossed touchdown passes of 20 yards and 5 yards to Ben Kueter and 46 yards to Mitchell as City High pulled away.

Ronnie Major added a 6 yard touchdown run in the first half.
