Regional Volleyball Roundup: Liberty High Sweeps CR Washington in Postseason Opener

Top-ranked and defending 5A runner-up Liberty High looked every bit like a number one ranked state title contender in its postseason opener.
Liberty High posted season-highs in hitting (.412) and ace serves (18) in a 25-9, 25-11, 25-11 sweep of Cedar Rapids Washington (6-29) in a Class 5A, Region 6 semifinal in North Liberty.
The Lightning improved to 33-4 with the win and will host Muscatine (15-17) in the Region 6 title game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Sam Harvey led Liberty High with 11 kills on Thursday as nine different players posted a kill for the Lightning.
Shelby Kimm had eight kills, Cassidy Hartman had seven and Lilah VanScoyoc added six for Liberty High.
Seven different players had an ace serve led by Gabbie Schroeder with six and Hartman with three while Kimm and Asta Hildebrand each had two aces.
Mariah Rollins had 17 assists to lead Liberty High while Hildebrand had 12.
Schroeder had a team-high 17 digs and Hartman had 10 and Harvey had two ace blocks.
