What a season for West High sophomore Cindy Wang.

Wang finished sixth in her first ever state qualifying meet appearance on Wednesday at Pickard Park in Indianola to secure a spot at the Class 4A state meet next week in Fort Dodge.

A member of the West High junior varsity squad last season, Wang finished sixth in a time of 19:29 on Wednesday to earn her first ever state meet appearance.

The Class 4A girls state meet is schedule for October 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

Des Moines Roosevelt won the team title on Wednesday with 40 points followed by West Des Moines Dowling with 45 and Indianola with 82.

West High was fifth with 97 points.

Sara Alaya finished 19^th for West High in a time of 20:33 while Annie Schwartz ws 20^th in 20:41 and Erinn Varga was 25^th in 20:58.
