Boys Cross Country Roundup: City High Wins Team Title; Liberty High Third at State Qualifier

City High secured a spot at the state cross country meet on Wednesday and the third-ranked Little did so in impressive fashion.
Led by individual champion Ford Washburn City High put five runners in the top seven and cruised to the team title at the Class 4A state qualifier at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.
City High finished with 23 points to outdistance runner-up Pleasant Valley by 35 while Liberty High finished third with 71 points to return to the state meet for the third consecutive season.
Washburn won the individual title by more than 16 seconds finishing in a time of 16:06 to lead a pack of Little Hawks in the top 10.
Truman Thompson was fourth in 16:40, Noah Carey was fifth in 16:45, Elliot Dunnwald was sixth in 16:49 and Ammon Smith was seventh in 16:57.
Sullivan Hall placed 15th in a time of 17:212 and Parker Max was 19th in 17:28 for the Little Hawks.
Sophomore Aidan Decker led Liberty High placing ninth in a time of 17:11 while Christian Montover was 11th in 17:13.
Jordan Robinson added a 13th place finish for the Lightning in 17:19 while Gavin Keeney was 18th in 17:28 and Logan Nelson was 20th in 17:31.
