Volleyball Roundup: Top-ranked Liberty Win Wins Mississippi Valley Conference Title

Liberty High put one final exclamation point on what was already a resounding regular season with another impressive performance on Tuesday at the Mississippi Valley Conference championship quadrangular.
Class 5A top-ranked Liberty High completed an unbeaten regular season against MVC foes with three consecutive sweeps of top-10 ranked opponents to claim the MVC championship on Tuesday evening at Cedar Rapids Xavier.
Liberty High swept 5A third-ranked Cedar Falls 26-24, 25-17 and eighth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy 25-12, 25-16 before capping the evening with a 25-13, 25-8 win over 4A fourth-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier.
The Lightning improved to 32-4 on the season with the three wins on Tuesday and will host a Class 5A regional semifinal on October 21.
Cassidy Hartman led four Liberty High players with double digit kills on Tuesday with a team-high 31 in the three matches while Shelby Kimm added 18 kills, Sam Harvey had 16 and Asta Hildebrand had 11.
Chante Hardaway had eight kills and Lilah VanScoyoc added six for the Lightning.
Gabbie Schroeder had a team-high 44 digs and three ace serves while Kimm had 35 digs and Hartman 27 digs and two ace serves.
Mariah Rollins had 42 assists while Hildebrand had 32 and VanScoyoc, Harvey and Hartman all had three blocks for the Lightning.
