Solon got a small measure of revenge on Friday night and in the meantime continued to get a leg up in the district race.

Class 3A third-ranked Solon avenged a 33-18 loss to Washington last season with a 44-21 win over the Demons in a District 5 contest at Case Field.

The Spartans had four touchdowns of more than 55 yards while improving to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in district play with its third consecutive win of at least three touchdowns.

Washington dropped to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in district play.

Junior quarterback Blake Timmons tossed three touchdown passes and also rushed for 114 yards and a score as Solon rolled up 387 yards of total offense.

Solon jumped to a 14-0 lead less than five minutes into the game thanks to a couple of touchdown passes from Timmons.

Junior running back Sean Stahle got the scoring starting taking a pass from Timmons and going 80 yards for a touchdown on the opening possession of the game.

Solon struck quickly again on its next possession as Timmons found a wide-open Carson Miller for a 55 yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.

Stahle made it 21-0 Solon when he returned a punt 84 yards for a score.

Jake Quillin made an impressive snag of a Timmons pass for a 10-yard touchdown to give the Spartans a 28-7 halftime lead.

Solon pushed the lead to 44-7 in the third quarter on a 71-yard touchdown run by Timmons and a safety on a blocked punt.

Junior quarterback Brayden Ruskey added a 7-yard touchdown run to cap the Solon scoring.

Timmons threw for 199 yards with Stahle catching two passes for 95 yards and Miller making two receptions for 85 yards.

Solon will host Fairfield (5-1, 2-0) in a battle of District 5 unbeatens next Friday.

Fairfield defeated West Burlington 39-27 on Friday.
