Different night of the week, same dominating result for the City High defense.

Class 5A third-ranked City High posted its third shutout of the season on Thursday blanking Davenport North 42-0 at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport.

The win was the sixth straight to open the season for City High while Davenport North dropped to 3-3 with its second consecutive loss.

Drew Larson threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers as City High scored all six of its touchdowns in the second and third quarters.

After a scoreless opening quarter City High closed the first half with a flurry, scoring three touchdowns in the final seven minutes of the second quarter.

Joey Bouska started the scoring with a 14 yard touchdown run and Darren Richardson added a 4-yard run that made it 14-0 Little Hawks.

Larson hit Gable Mitchell with a 29-yard scoring strike to give City High a 21-0 halftime advantage.

After recovering a Davenport North onside kick attempt on the second half kickoff Larson connected with Richardson for a 54 yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 28-0.

Quinton Tran hooked up with Mitchell for a 38 yard score and Larson found Jamari Newson with a 5 yarder as the Little Hawks triggered the continuous clock with a 42-0 lead.

As the City High offense got going the Little Hawk defense continued to impress.

The shutout was the third in six games for City High and first since blanking Cedar Rapids Jefferson in week two.

City High has now allowed 29 total points in six games this season, an average of just 4.8 per game.

City High will return to the Quad Cities next Friday to take on Pleasant Valley (3-2). The Spartans travel to rival Bettendorf on Friday.
