A new set of weekly cross country rankings compiled by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches is set to be released on Tuesday.

If Monday’s performance is any indication it would seem the Solon boys squad is due for a significant rise up the Class 3A rankings.

Class 3A No. 12 Solon finished third in a loaded field at the 41^st Ballard Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Huxley Country Clubb.

The Spartans finished behind only the top two ranked teams in Class 3A as top-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes cruised to the team title with 40 points and No. 2 North Polk was runner-up with 96 points.

Solon was third with 121 finishing in front of fourth-ranked Pella, No. 11 ADM, Class 2A sixth-ranked Des Moines Christian and No. 10 Carlisle.

Senior Gabe Hinman placed 11^th in in a time of 17:16.2 to lead Solon while sophomores Brick Kabela and Michael Yeomans placed 16^th and 19^th respectively.

Kabela was 16^th in 17:30.3 while Yeomans was 19^th in 17:42.7.
