Girls Cross Country Roundup: Second-ranked Solon Rolls To Team Title at Tipton Invitational

Class 3A second-ranked Solon posted a perfect score of 15 on its way to winning the team title at the Tipton Invitational on Tuesday at Tipton City Park.
Solon had the top five finishers among runners on complete teams and put five runners in the top six overall while finishing with 15 points to easily outdistance host and Class 2A third-ranked Tipton by 34 points.
Class 1A fifth-ranked Regina was third with 86 points followed by Wilton with 133 and Central DeWitt with 134.
Calamus-Wheatland freshman Noelle Steines won the individual title in a time of 20:11 but the next five finishers were all from Solon.
Senior Emma Bock was the overall runner-up in a time of 21:12 while Anna Quillin was third in 21:18 and Kayla Young was fourth in 21:22.
Gracie Federspiel finished fifth in a time of 21:31 and freshman Lydia Hogan was sixth in 21:50.
Mya Whitaker finished 13th in 23:00 to lead Regina while teammate Natalie Franklin was 19th in 23:27 and Josie Pursley was 24th in 24:34.
