Girls Cross Country Roundup: City High Fifth, West High Seventh at Spartan Invitational

City High had a pair of runners finish in the top 25 on its way to a fifth-place team finish at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday morning at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.
Freshman Ani Wedemeyer finished 22nd and senior Rowan Boulter was 25th as Class 4A No. 15 City High finished fifth at the 14-team meet with 173 points.
Naperville North (Illinois) won the team title with 43 points while Edina (Minnesota) was runner-up with 86.
Class 3A third-ranked and host Pleasant Valley was third with 90 points followed by 3A second-ranked Johnston with 98 and City High.
3A No. 14 Dubuque Senior was sixth with 179 points while No. 20 West High was seventh with 211 one spot in front of eighth-ranked Bettendorf.
Gabby Moniza was 21st in a time of 20:30 to lead West High while Cindy Wang was 26th in 20:30 and Annie Schwartz was 49th in 21:36.
Freshman Nina Kuhlmann was 35th for City High in 21:02 and Iris Wedemeyer finished 37th in 21:03.
