Boys Cross Country Roundup: McKane Wins Individual Title; City High Fourth at Spartan Invite

Alex McKane won the individual title to help West High to a fifth-place team finish at the Pleasant Valley Spartan Invitational on Saturday morning at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.
McKane won the individual title in a time of 16:19, his second consecutive individual title to start the season.
The West High senior finished nine seconds in front of Wheaton North (Illinois) senior Ryan Zydek who was runner-up in 16:28.
Wheaton North had three runners finish in the top five and won the team title with 65 points.
Johnston was runner-up with 84 followed by Edina (Minnesota) 86 while City High was fourth with 92 points and West High was fifth with 107.
Junior Ford Washburn finished fourth in a time of 16:39 to lead City High while teammate Noah Carey was sixth in 16:56.
Parker Max placed 18th in a time of 17:25 and Ammon Smith was 27th in 17:38 for the Little Hawks.
Seth Cheney placed ninth in a time of 17:03 for West High while Caden Noeller was 23rd in 17:27 and Asher Overholt was 28th in 17:39.
