Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Oliver Martin
Former West High all-stater and current Nebraska wide receiver Oliver Martin had the best game of his collegiate career on Saturday.
Martin had six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown in a 30-22 loss to Illinois.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound junior had his first touchdown reception as a Cornhusker with a four-yard scoring grab in the fourth quarter.
Colby Greene
West High graduate and current Southeast Missouri junior Colby Greene had a big weekend helping the Hawks go 3-0 at the CEFCU Invitational in Peoria, Illinois.
Greene had 18 kills and eight blocks as Southeast Missouri opened the season with consecutive wins over DePaul, Bradley and Central Michigan.
The 6-foot-2 Greene had a season-high eight kills and four blocks in a four-set win over Bradley on Saturday.
Mackenzie Murphy
City High graduate Mackenzie Murphy is off to a strong start to the season at Mount Mercy helping the Mustangs to a 3-5 start.
A 5-foot-11 junior Murphy ranks third on the team with 57 kills and 1.9 kills per set.
Murphy also leads the Mustangs with 14 ace serves and is second on the team with 74 digs.
