City High Sends Seniors Out With Consolation Win at State Softball Tournament

FORT DODGE – City High didn’t get the big prize it was after this week in Fort Dodge but the Little Hawks did end the season with a victory.
Class 5A sixth-ranked City High bounced back from a quarterfinal loss to Ankeny Centennial on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over No. 12 Southeast Polk on Wednesday in a consolation contest at the state tournament at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.
City High closed the season 34-8 with the win while Southeast Polk ended 21-20.
Ayana Lindsey tripled and drove in a run and also tossed a complete game four-hitter in her final game in a City High uniform as City High earned a win in the final game for an impactful senior class.
Seniors Carey Koenig, Ella Cook and Cynthia Hull all had hits for City High in the win.
Lindsey was brilliant in the circle allowing just four hits and three walks while striking out eight in the complete game.
Georgia Kimm drove in a run for City High while eighth-grader Avy Lindsey had a hit and scored a run and Makayla Ribble scored a run.
